Former richest man in the world, Warren Buffett, has concluded that success is not about money, but about “the people you want to love actually love you.” The billionaire investor shared his views on success, business advice, and life decisions in an interview with Yahoo Finance.
"I've said many times that if you reach 65 or 70 or older and the people you want to love actually love you, you've succeeded," he said.
Happiness is often more strongly correlated with relationships than with wealth, he says.
Buffett emphasized the importance of surrounding yourself with exemplary people, saying, “You have to associate with people who are better than you. I mean, essentially, you will follow the path of the people you interact with.”
Despite his wealth, Buffett, the man who held the title of the richest man in the world for much of the late 1990s and early 2000s, lives a modest and modest life. He bought his home in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1958 for $31,500 and has lived there ever since. Despite the fact that his fortune is estimated at tens of billions of dollars and his Berkshire Hathaway Inc. has grown to become an $800 billion giant, he still regularly eats fast food and drives old used cars.
Buffett's approach extends to his diet and daily routine. He prefers the simple, comforting foods he enjoyed as a child, commenting on his dietary choices with a hypothetical scenario in which he would give up another year of life if his diet consisted of unloved vegetables.
Buffett advocates significant self-investment, especially in communication skills, which he believes can increase a person's value by 50%. “It’s like winking at a girl in the dark—nothing happens,” he noted, stressing the importance of effective communication. “If you can't communicate your ideas, no matter how good they are, you won't succeed.”
Dubbed the Oracle of Omaha, Buffett is considered one of the greatest investors in modern history, and his strategies have been proven for decades. Buffett has emphasized long-term investment strategies rather than frequent trading, comparing smart investing to caring for a car that should last a lifetime.
