Hollywood actor Donald Sutherland has died. He was 88 years old. “It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away,” his son Kiefer Sutherland announced on microblog X (formerly Twitter).
“Personally, I consider him one of the most important actors in the history of cinema. Never been intimidated by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and you couldn't ask for more. A life well lived."
Award-winning actor Donald Sutherland has starred in a variety of popular films such as The Hunger Games, The Dirty Dozen and Animal House.
He died on Thursday in Miami after a long illness, Deadline reports.
Sutherland, who received an honorary Oscar in 2017, was born on July 17, 1935 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. He has appeared in more than 200 films and television.
Sutherland won a Golden Globe for the TV movie Road to War, as well as an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his role in the miniseries Citizen X.
