Flowers for the home and beyond: A simple way to get rid of annoying weeds

21:18, June 27

With the onset of summer, many of us want to relax at the summer home, and not waste time weeding.

Weeds, including dandelions, grow everywhere, including on garden paths and gravel, and it is important to get rid of them as soon as possible, as they can attract pests to gardens as well as compete with other plants for natural resources such as sunlight light, water, and nutrients.

Expert Alan Titchmarsh offers a simple way to kill weeds without using harsh chemicals. It is very popular on the internet to recommend vinegar for killing weeds, but it is usually only effective against young weeds as it cannot target deep roots in the soil.

Speaking on the Gardeners' World Magazine podcast, Alan noted that the best way to kill weeds naturally and attack the root is to pour boiling water over them. “Boiling water on gravel paths works wonders.”

All you have to do is boil a kettle, and then pour the water on the weeds. The high temperature will instantly kill the weed leaves, and they will not be able to photosynthesize and continue to grow in your garden. However, it will take two or three attempts to completely remove these pesky plants; this method will eventually destroy the weed and kill the root, which will stop it from re-growing.

The method of killing weed with boiling water should only be used on patios, paths, and driveways as it attacks the roots of any plants it comes into contact with, including lawn grass and flowers.
