Richard Gere will star in a television series. The 74-year-old actor is starring in the Showtime production “The Agency.”
The series is based on the popular French program "The Bureau." This is the famous actor's first major role in a television series—although he has appeared in television series, including the 1994 movie And the Band Played On, for which he was nominated for an Emmy.
According to a statement released by Paramount+ and Showtime, Gere will play the role of Bosco, a London stationmaster who has completed eight years of undercover work. The show was produced by George Clooney and his partner, Grant Heslov, through their company Smokehouse Pictures.
