The series "Shogun" and "Bear" are nominated for Emmy Awards in 25 and 23 categories, respectively. As the AP notes, the nominations bring overdue recognition to critical favorites such as FX's "Reservation Dogs" and "What We Do in the Shadows" as well as new contenders including "Shogun" actors Anna Sawai and Hiroyuki Sanada.

Lily Gladstone and Kali Reyes became the first indigenous female actors to be nominated for an Emmy - Gladstone for Under the Bridge and Reyes for True Detective: Nightland.

"Dogs of the Reservation" was nominated in the Best Comedy Series category.

Netflix leads this year with 107 nominations for series including “Fawn” and “Ripley.” FX comes in second, thanks in part to “Bear” and newcomer “Shogun.” HBO has 91 nominations. Apple TV+ also did well, receiving 70 nominations, including “The Morning Show” and “Slow Horses.”

Hulu's One Building Murders is a three-person comedy mystery series starring Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez. Until now, only Martin and Short have been recognized as best actors at the Emmys. Now the situation has changed - Gomez received a nomination in the category of best actress.

The Emmy Awards will take place on September 15 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
