Louis Vuitton's much-mocked airplane bag is now selling for $60,000

The $39,000 airplane-shaped bag designed by Virgil Abloh for the fall/winter 2021 collection is now on sale at Sotheby's for $60,000.

The bag was the subject of much ridicule in 2021. "You can buy a real airplane for much less," one social media user wrote, sharing an image of a 1968 Cessna 150 listed for $32,300. "For $39k I could fly this bag better."

But not everyone hated it. Among those who actually bought it was Chris Brown, who proudly showed off the designer piece on Instagram, claiming he was the only person in the US to own one.

Now there’s a chance to change that; Sotheby’s is offering a 2021 Louis Vuitton Virgil Abloh Ebene Monogram Coated Canvas bag with silver hardware in near-mint condition.
