From lingerie to lip gloss, Rihanna has launched a wide array of products under her Fenty brand. But it’s the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation that has become the crown jewel. Last week, Time recognized it as one of the best inventions of the past 25 years.

The magazine unveiled its Best Inventions Hall of Fame, highlighting innovations from YouTube and OpenAI GPT-4 to the Cronut and the Las Vegas Sphere. The Fenty foundation was the only beauty product to make the list.

Launched in 2017, Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation is known for its full coverage and long-lasting formula, offered in 52 shades. Time praised the product for “setting a new industry standard” and pushing other brands to develop more inclusive palettes for darker skin tones.

Since then, Fenty Beauty has expanded its foundation lineup with products like Soft’Lit Naturally Luminous Longwear Foundation for a more natural glow, and Eaze Drop Tint Stick and Blurring Skin Tint for lightweight, buildable coverage. Page Six testers noted that Eaze Drop can easily be built up to medium coverage despite its lightweight texture.

This year, Time also recognized other innovations in beauty, including the L’Oréal Professionnel AirLight Pro hair dryer, which dries hair faster than conventional tools, and the Epres ePhD Bond Repair Nail Treatment, designed to repair gel polish damage.
