Armenian opera star Juliana Grigoryan has earned major international recognition after being featured in ELLE Magazine (US) in an article titled “Beyond Rosalía: 6 Artists Powering Classical Music’s Comeback.” The piece, written by Samuel Maude and published on November 12, 2025, spotlights six rising performers who are reshaping the future of classical music—and Grigoryan stands proudly among them.
In the article, ELLE celebrates the 27-year-old soprano as one of the most exciting voices of her generation. It notes that despite her young age, Grigoryan has already performed on the world’s most prestigious opera stages, including Teatro alla Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, the Dutch National Opera, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, and Teatro Massimo di Palermo.
ELLE also highlights her rapid rise in the opera world. In 2022, Grigoryan won first place at Plácido Domingo’s Operalia Competition, a triumph that helped propel her onto the global opera scene. In 2024, she earned the coveted Hilde Behrens Prize, further affirming her exceptional artistry and international promise. The feature also notes her performance alongside Andrea Bocelli, showcasing her versatility and broad appeal.
Looking ahead, ELLE points out that Grigoryan’s momentum continues to build. During the 2025–2026 season, she will star as Mimì in La Bohème and return to the Metropolitan Opera to reprise Liu in Turandot, the role that marked her critically acclaimed Met debut.
ELLE’s inclusion of Juliana Grigoryan in a feature dedicated to classical music’s cultural resurgence places the Armenian soprano firmly on the map as one of the key voices shaping the genre’s future. For Armenia, it is a significant moment of pride as one of its young talents garners attention from one of the world’s most influential magazines.
