Expensive designer items are no longer a guarantee of elite status. Fashion experts told the Daily Mail which brands embody “quiet luxury” — the understated labels preferred by the wealthiest one percent.
The concept of quiet luxury has gone viral on TikTok, with influencers debating which brands truly signal wealth. Content creator Emily Rose has repeatedly pointed out that famous labels like Louis Vuitton and Dior do not necessarily indicate affluence, while Zegna, Tom Ford, and Yves Saint Laurent represent “wealthy,” and Loro Piana is “very wealthy.”
The trend gained mainstream attention thanks to HBO’s Succession: the Roy family characters wore high-end, logo-free pieces, setting a new standard for understated opulence.
Today, “everyday wealth” can be spotted in subtle details: luxury hair clips by Emi Jay, regular manicures, and clothing without visible logos. Italian label Loro Piana, part of the LVMH portfolio, is known for $875 white T-shirts and $1,400 shirts — consistently topping quiet luxury lists.
Antonio Bolognese, owner of Capitol Hill Clothiers in Washington, who tailors custom suits for ultra-wealthy clients, notes: “An expensive brand doesn’t automatically mean the piece is worn by a real millionaire. True luxury is revealed in the fit, the fabric, and the craftsmanship.”
These clients are willing to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a seasonal wardrobe without caring about logos. What matters is fabric quality, tailoring skill, and a flawless fit.
Stylists highlight the following brands as favorites among high-net-worth clients: Brunello Cucinelli, Totême, Hermès, The Row, Issey Miyake, Comme des Garçons, Rick Owens, Maison Margiela.
Brands “not considered quiet luxury” and more popular among celebrities include: Louis Vuitton, Dior, Balenciaga, Michael Kors, Coach, and Celine.
Kay Sides, founder of Roam and Hatch, explains: “A truly luxurious wardrobe rarely consists of pieces with large logos. It’s a harmonious mix of basic, high-quality items and a few standout investment pieces.”
Quiet luxury isn’t about showing off — it’s about perfect fit, premium materials, and a sense of style that only those who truly belong to the elite can recognize.
