Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch Breaks Her Silence on the Controversy Surrounding Her Miss Universe Win

10:19, November 23

Fátima Bosch is honored to hold the title of Miss Universe — even with the controversy that came beforehand when she stood up for herself in the competition, People writes

In her first statement on social media since taking the crown at the 2025 Miss Universe competition on Thursday, Nov. 20, the 25-year-old, who entered the competition as Miss Mexico, credited her faith for helping her accomplish her wildest dreams.

“Today I reaffirmed that what God has destined for you, neither envy stops it, nor destiny aborts it, nor luck changes it,” she wrote in the caption of an Instagram post, translated from Spanish to English.

Bosch, who shared a series of photographs with the post, added, “Long live Christ the King.”

Her carousel began with a solo shot of her, moments after her big win, smiling while wearing her crown and a “Miss Universe” sash across her red and gold gown.

Another image included showed Bosch sharing the spotlight with finalists from the competition, as confetti fell from the ceiling and they all smiled, while one other captured her waving to the crowd and strutting down the runway as the winner.

Bosch’s road to Miss Universe was no easy feat, however. Just weeks before the crowning moment, she went viral when she stood up and walked out of a Miss Universe event that was livestreamed via Facebook on Nov. 4, after pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil called her out for allegedly failing to "promote the host country" of Thailand on social media.

When she tried to deny the claims, he responded by calling her a "dummy” in front of the entire room.

Bosch stood up, and when Itsaragrisil asked why, she replied, "Because I have a voice. You are not respecting me as a woman.”

Almost immediately, multiple other contestants rose to their feet and walked out with Miss Mexico, in support of her.
