The personal estate of Hollywood legend Gene Hackman fetched over $2 million at a Bonhams auction, nine months after the actor and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, were found dead in their Santa Fe, New Mexico home.

The sale included not only Hackman’s iconic trophies—three Golden Globes—but also his private art collection, personal artworks, and sculptures by Auguste Rodin that had been housed in his residence.

All three Golden Globes exceeded expectations. Bonhams reported that each trophy sold for more than its pre-auction estimate:

•  Best Actor – Comedy/Musical for The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) fetched over $50,000.

•  Best Supporting Actor for Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven sold for over $43,000.

•  Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement went for $33,000.

Anna Hicks, a Bonhams representative, described the collection as “an intimate glimpse into Hackman’s personal world.” Remaining lots are scheduled for auction on December 4, marking the final chapter in the sale of the actor’s legacy.

Hackman passed away in February at the age of 95. According to reports, the Oscar-winning actor, who suffered from Alzheimer’s, died of heart disease. His wife Betsy had passed away a week earlier. Their bodies, along with that of one of their dogs, were discovered later by a worker visiting the property. Hackman left an estate valued at approximately $80 million.

Over a six-decade career, Hackman earned two Oscars and appeared in dozens of iconic films, including The French Connection, Unforgiven, Birdcage, Hoosiers, and Superman.
