The winner of the World’s Strongest Woman competition was stripped of her title after organizers announced that American competitor Jammie Booker had not disclosed she was born male, reports NYP.
Booker was disqualified just days after her triumph at the Official Strongman Games World Championship in Arlington, Texas, over the past weekend.
Organizers said Booker, from Philadelphia, violated competition rules, which clearly state that athletes must compete in the category corresponding to their biological sex at birth.
“It appears that a biologically male athlete who now identifies as female competed in the Women’s category,” the organizers said in a social media statement. “Official Strongman representatives were unaware of this fact before the competition and launched an urgent investigation once informed. Had we known in advance, or had this been disclosed before or during the competition, the athlete would not have been allowed to compete in the Women’s category.”
The decision came after second-place finisher Andrea Thompson from the UK was filmed storming off the podium in frustration over the initial awarding of the title to Booker. Thompson is now officially recognized as the winner, a decision widely supported online.

As a result of Booker’s disqualification, the competition results will be recalculated.
Three-time champion Rebecca Roberts led the backlash, emphasizing that no one was aware of Booker’s biological sex beforehand. “Transgender women, people born male, should not compete in women’s divisions,” she said. “My message is simple: trans people belong in sports, but women’s divisions should remain for biologically born females only.”
Booker has not publicly commented on her disqualification, and organizers said attempts to reach her following the event were unsuccessful.
