Iconic Hermès handbags continue to set records on the resale market. According to a new report from resale retailer Rebag, the value of the brand’s most coveted models has risen by 92% over the past ten years. In comparison, Hermès’ retail prices increased by just 43% over the same period, WWD reports.
The year 2025 proved particularly strong for Hermès: the average resale value of its bags reached 138%, up 38% from 2024, according to the Rebag Clair Report 2025. High demand, combined with new brand restrictions—such as a limit of two bags per customer per year—significantly boosted resale prices.
Eight Hermès models sold for more than their original retail price this year. The Kelly Mini II fetched 282% of its initial cost, while the Sellier Birkin went for 183%. Earlier this year, the company announced plans to increase bag production with the opening of four new factories, which could influence the resale market in the future.
Hermès isn’t the only brand capturing collectors’ attention in 2025. The Row reached “unicorn” status on the secondary market for the first time, with its bags retaining 97% of their original value. Miu Miu also posted strong results, with pre-owned models holding 104% of their retail price.
Nostalgia played a key role in resale trends: the return of the Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami collection sparked renewed interest in older models, in some cases driving prices up by 143%. In the watches and jewelry segment, Rolex maintained 104% of resale value, while Van Cleef & Arpels achieved 112%, largely thanks to the popular Sweet Alhambra line.
Overall, 2025 has been a vibrant year for the luxury resale market—making it perhaps the perfect time to consider a purchase… or even an investment.
