After experiencing clinical death in her early 20s, Louisa Peck claims she developed extraordinary abilities.
Years of late-night partying in New York had led Peck to heavy drinking and drug use. One night, she overdosed at a club and went into cardiac arrest.
"I shot up into the sky and found myself on another plane where my body dissolved, and I could fly and meet my ancestors," Peck told NeedToKnow. She described feeling the joy of her ancestors and an honor at joining them, even though she had never been interested in family history.
During this state, she heard a voice calling her back to Earth: “You can’t stay; you’re not done yet.” Peck awoke to a bartender performing CPR.
After refusing an ambulance and taking a taxi home, she tried to act as if nothing unusual had occurred. Yet her life changed forever: Peck soon discovered she could predict deaths, see ghosts, and even know strangers’ names before meeting them.
In 1987, she reportedly saw the ghost of an old man on a beach, and a few years later, she correctly predicted that her unborn nephew would not survive to full term.
"I was a staunch materialist and atheist, but I knew this wasn’t a dream or hallucination," she said.
Now, more than 40 years later, 65-year-old Peck believes the aftereffects of her near-death experience prove the existence of a spiritual realm. She explains: “Intelligence and love are one, and they manifest across the universe — including life itself.”
Peck chronicles her journey in her book, Die-Hard Atheist: from NDE Denier to Full-on Woo-Woo.
