Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner Lose Court Bid to Keep Sex Tape Settlement Details Private

19:08, April 2

Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner have suffered a setback in court after failing to keep details of a settlement tied to the infamous sex tape with Ray J under wraps, reports Page Six.

According to court documents filed in Los Angeles, the mother-daughter duo sought to seal parts of a 2023 agreement, arguing that making the information public could cause “significant harm” to their privacy.

Judge Stephen A. Ellis rejected the request, stating that Kardashian and Jenner “failed to provide sufficient evidence” to support claims of potential damage. He also described their arguments as “overly broad, speculative and unsupported.”

The court further noted that the matter is far from new, as the story surrounding the tape has long been part of the public domain.

As a result, the motion was denied, with only limited technical details – such as a bank account number – allowed to remain confidential.

The legal battle between the parties intensified last fall, when Kardashian and Jenner filed a lawsuit against Ray J, accusing him of defamation following his claims about a potential case being prepared against them.

In response, the musician filed a countersuit, alleging that Kardashian and Jenner violated the terms of their agreement by discussing the tape on their reality show.

According to reports, the 2023 settlement was signed by all parties, including Ray J and his mother, and was intended to resolve all past and future disputes related to the situation.

Ray J has continued to insist that Kardashian and Jenner were involved in the release of the tape – a claim that has been widely debated since 2022.

Both Kardashian and Jenner have strongly denied the allegations. In one statement, Kris Jenner called the claims “deeply offensive,” adding that as a mother she was “heartbroken and devastated” when her daughter’s private moments became public.

The tape itself was filmed in 2003 during a trip to Mexico and leaked in 2007, becoming one of the most talked-about scandals in entertainment history – and a defining moment in Kim Kardashian’s rise to fame.
