The Hogwarts universe on HBO will continue to expand — the streaming service has officially greenlit a second season of the “Harry Potter” series, even though the first season has not yet premiered.

The renewal decision comes roughly seven months before the debut of the first season, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Filming for the second season is planned to begin this autumn.

While the official title of season two has not yet been announced, creators previously stated that the project will follow the structure of J.K. Rowling’s books, dedicating one season to each novel. This means the second season will most likely be based on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

The second book is often considered one of the most debated entries in the series — fans frequently describe it as one of the weaker installments in the original saga. However, the show’s creators intend to expand and reinterpret the source material, adding new details and fresh perspectives.

One of the key challenges for the production remains the age of the cast: with filming expected to span several years, it will be crucial to ensure that the young actors do not outgrow their characters.
