Mexican police are hunting for a real-life vigilante dubbed "Batman" who has been tracking down suspected motorcycle thieves and duct-taping them to streetlights.
According to The Sun, over a 10-day period starting June 13, at least five men were discovered helplessly pinned to public poles around the city of Lagos de Moreno in the state of Jalisco.

To add insult to injury, the masked avenger gave many of his targets unsolicited makeovers. Using permanent markers, "Batman" drew mustaches, cat whiskers, and the word "ratero" (thief) across their faces. Photos documenting the bizarre scene were shared on social media platform X by Mexican journalist Luis Cárdenas.
To make the suspects' alleged crimes obvious to passersby, the vigilante left the stolen motorcycles parked right next to them. One photo features two men taped back-to-back around a concrete pillar with a neon pink sign hanging right above their heads and a motorbike parked right at their feet.
Despite the obvious criminal background of the captured men, local law enforcement is far from thrilled by the vigilante's superhero antics.

Juan Pablo Hernández, the State Secretary for Public Security, confirmed that police are technically treating the taped-up men as victims. As of now, all of Batman’s "targets" have been cut loose from the tape and given medical evaluations. It remains unclear whether the freed men are facing active grand theft investigations.
No arrests have been made so far, but authorities noted they have already identified two vehicles believed to be linked to the Mexican superhero's operation.
