Shocking bodycam footage from New York police officers captured the moment two clout-chasers were arrested after managing to scale the very spire of the famous Empire State Building to pull off an engagement, NYP reports.

The video shows officers ascending toward the skyscraper's antenna and taking 33-year-old Angela Nikolau and 32-year-old Ivan Kuznetsov into custody. Just a couple of minutes prior, the man had popped the question to his beloved at a height of more than 440 meters (1,443 feet) above the ground.
"Hey, I see them!" an officer says on the recording as he approaches the trespassers. "How's it going? You're not supposed to be up here!"

"I'm okay," nonchalantly replies Nikolau, who describes herself as a "neo-artist exploring identity, fear, and freedom."
Dressed in black streetwear, the daredevil couple climbed to the absolute peak of the Empire State Building's 443-meter antenna, where they unfurled a banner featuring a high-flown quote: "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace."
After spending about 30 minutes at the building's highest point (while a helicopter circled around them), the lovers climbed back down to the observation deck, where they sealed their union. In the footage the couple managed to capture, Nikolau flashes a massive engagement ring and a flawless almond-shaped manicure.

As soon as the "skywalkers" returned to the ground, the NYPD immediately took them into custody. According to the NYPD, charges against them are currently pending. It remains a mystery how the roofers managed to slip past security all the way to the 103rd floor of the iconic Manhattan skyscraper.
Angela Nikolau and Ivan Kuznetsov are originally from Moscow, but they currently reside in East Orange, New Jersey. Their extreme relationship and hazardous hobby became the basis for the Netflix documentary Skywalkers: A Love Story, which premiered in January 2024 at the Sundance Film Festival.

On Angela’s social media, one can find dozens of dizzying shots from the peaks of the planet's tallest structures: the couple has previously conquered a tower of the Bay Bridge in San Francisco and the Merdeka 118 supertall skyscraper in Kuala Lumpur (the second-highest building in the world). Now, the ultimate symbol of New York has been added to their track record—though the finale of this romantic story turned out to be behind bars.
