The whole thing was crowned with the text "America’s Eras Tour," directly mimicking the poster for Swift’s massive 2023 tour. The White House even used Taylor’s famous line from the show: "It’s a long time coming."

The prospect of a massive wedding coinciding with a long holiday weekend seems to have particularly stung an administration highly sensitive to the singer's cultural weight. On X (formerly Twitter), the White House also posted two video montages on American history that reimagined Swift’s work. One proclaimed "The Next Stage in America’s Eras Tour," while the other promoted "America’s Greatest Hits—Era by Era."

Compared to Trump’s other celebrity broadsides (just this week, he posted an AI-generated video showing himself as a doctor treating Julia Roberts and Robert De Niro for "Trump Derangement Syndrome"), this wedding trolling seems relatively harmless, even carrying a hint of begrudging approval. And there are good reasons for that.

Going up against liberal Hollywood stars is a win-win strategy for the President, guaranteeing easy points with his core electorate. However, open warfare with Swift is a far more dangerous move. Trump is well aware that in swing states, a massive number of voters take their cues from Taylor and her progressive views. Attacking her could trigger a massive wave of votes against his candidates. That is precisely why he had previously taken a diplomatic route, wishing the couple well (though immediately adding a prediction that their relationship wouldn't last).

Furthermore, the timing of the wedding over the July 4th weekend, whether intentional or not, completely upstaged Trump himself.
