Ninety-seven-year-old British resident Betty Bromage has entered the Guinness World Records as the oldest woman in the world to perform a wing walk on a flying biplane.
Despite suffering a stroke last August and struggling with her vision, the brave pensioner from Cheltenham completed her sixth stunt of the past decade.

According to Betty, her craving for extremes helps her fight routine and age-related limitations. "Otherwise, life would just get boring. I don't know how to drive, my eyesight is poor, and I get a bit upset about that. So I want to do things that are within my power. The only difficulty is getting up onto the wing because I'm not very tall. But once you're up there, there are no problems at all. An amusement park ride can be much scarier."
Betty admitted that she was inspired to perform extreme feats by a quote she read many years ago on the wall of the hospital where she worked as a nurse: "We pass through this world only once... do good now, don't put it off."

The pensioner dedicated her recent record to charity: the funds raised went to the Cheltenham General Hospital, whose staff nursed her back to health after her stroke.
The centenarian-in-training does not intend to stop here. She already has grand plans for the future. "For my hundredth birthday, I'll need to come up with something special."
