Years after one of Hollywood's most high-profile divorces, Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt managed to welcome each other back into their lives. According to Daily Mail, shortly after their landmark and much-discussed encounter backstage at the SAG Awards in January 2020, the ex-spouses began communicating in secret.

According to insiders, during that very encounter at the awards show, the former husband and wife exchanged new phone numbers, and Brad was the first to text.

Shortly after this, Pitt began regularly appearing on the set of The Morning Show, where Jennifer was filming.

The visits were clandestine in nature: the actor was driven directly to the actress's trailer for private, one-on-one lunches.

These "standing lunches" took place at least once a week during work on the show's second season. Aside from the studio, the pair secretly met at Jennifer's home, avoiding the attention of paparazzi.

In September 2020, they fueled public interest by participating together in a virtual table read of the script for Fast Times at Ridgemont High, demonstrating the exact chemistry that millions of fans loved them for.

Despite the hopes of romantics around the world, sources for the publication emphasize that there was no romantic nature to their communication.

"A platonic bond formed. Nothing more," the first insider shared. "They have been through so much both personally and publicly that a romantic relationship was never on the agenda."

Another source noted that for Brad Pitt, this was an opportunity to get back a person he could trust implicitly. "More than anything, Brad missed her as a reliable friend. He was quickly reminded of how important a role Jennifer played in his life... It took her years to forgive Brad for walking out on her. But when they bumped into each other in 2020, they reconnected after a long and difficult split."

The dynamic in the ex-spouses' relationship shifted after a new love entered Pitt's life—jewelry designer Ines de Ramon. According to sources, Brad honestly told Jennifer about his new serious relationship, and she was genuinely happy for him. After that, the ex-spouses stopped seeing each other in person.
