Musician Role Model has decided to set the record straight regarding his long-running stage performance and jokes with fans concerning the iconic Hermès Birkin bags.

The 29-year-old artist addressed questions about his "obsession" with luxury handbags while taking a lie detector test for Vanity Fair.

Throughout the prolonged promotional campaign for his 2026 album Chuck Timely & The Hourglass, the artist joked on stage and across social media that he supposedly needed to sell records exclusively to buy a rare Birkin bag. And in a video posted to TikTok in May, the "Sally, When the Wine Runs Out" hitmaker triumphantly showcased a black model with gold hardware, declaring that he had finally managed to get his hands on one.

"Yes, I have one," he admitted in his Vanity Fair interview. "It’s black, and it was gifted to me." "The joke went too far... I never wanted a Birkin. Literally never. It wasn't real. Do I accidentally own one now? Yes. Did I pay for it? No."

When asked who exactly made him such a generous gift, Role Model replied: "I can't say. I can't. But it was a man. It's always a man."
