Madonna is considering lucrative offers to return to the most provocative project of her career. According to sources, the singer could revisit her infamous Sex coffee-table book, released more than three decades ago — but her children are reportedly “begging” their mother not to revive the controversial concept.

The 67-year-old pop icon is said to be weighing multimillion-dollar offers for an ambitious two-part photography project inspired by Sex — the provocative book Madonna released alongside her Erotica album on October 21, 1992.

The original edition sold more than 1.5 million copies within just a few days and has never been officially reissued.

Madonna’s Children Panic: They Don’t Want Another Scandalous Project

According to sources, the singer’s children are “begging” her not to return to such an explicit concept, RadarOnline reports.

A source in the publishing industry said interest in Sex has never truly faded:

“Conversations about how Madonna could return to that period without simply recreating what she did more than 30 years ago are definitely happening. The main appeal is to show the journey from the young woman who caused an extraordinary scandal to the artist she has become today.”

However, according to the insider, that very idea has seriously alarmed Madonna’s children.

“This is what has sent her children into a panic. They are begging her not to do it,” the source claimed.

Mysterious Demand for a Scandalous Reissue

Madonna’s original book has become a highly sought-after collector’s item in recent years. According to the report, rare sealed copies now sell for around $400 to $1,500.

That enduring interest is reportedly prompting publishers to explore a new project. Sources claim they are particularly interested in incorporating material connected to the original publication.

“The commercial potential is obvious: people are still searching for the original book decades later. A project that brings together the imagery of that era with Madonna as she is today could generate enormous interest,” another insider said.

The proposed photography project is expected to trace Madonna’s evolution — from a provocative young pop star to one of the world’s most recognizable cultural figures.

No final agreement has been reached, however. Sources stress that Madonna has traditionally been reluctant to revisit ground she has already covered.

Why Madonna’s Famous Book Is Almost Impossible to Find

The book’s absence from the mainstream market has only strengthened its status among collectors.

A rare-book specialist explained:

“Nothing else has managed to maintain this level of demand for so long. People have been searching for this book for decades, and every year there is a new generation of collectors willing to do almost anything to find an original copy.”

BookFinder has repeatedly included Sex among the most sought-after out-of-print American books, describing it as an edition featuring “photographs of the Material Girl — without the material.”
