Hayden Panettiere’s former fiancé, Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko, has gone to court seeking to be appointed guardian of the estate of their 11-year-old daughter, Kaya. According to court documents, the athlete wants to protect the inheritance of the girl, who is entitled to her late mother’s estate following the actress’s death.

According to Page Six, citing court records, Klitschko filed the petition in Los Angeles. The documents state that Kaya “is entitled to all of the estate” of the Heroes star, who died on August 16 at the age of 35.

Klitschko argues that appointing him as temporary guardian of his daughter’s estate is “urgent and necessary.” This would allow him to receive, manage and safeguard Kaya’s assets on her behalf. The girl currently lives with her father in Ukraine.

In his filing, the 50-year-old former boxer also expressed concern about the fate of the late actress’s property. According to Klitschko, he learned that federal agents may have entered Panettiere’s Los Angeles home as part of an ongoing investigation and seized some items belonging to her estate.

Klitschko noted that no one has officially been appointed to administer the actress’s estate, meaning her property is currently without proper protection.

The court documents state that even before Panettiere’s death, she and Klitschko had hired a security company to protect her home and the belongings inside it. The move was prompted by concerns that an unknown individual may have unlawfully entered the property.

After the actress’s death, the security company changed the locks at the house. As an additional precaution, storage units containing designer clothing and accessories that Panettiere had worn at public events were also relocated.

The identity of the person Klitschko suspects of unlawfully accessing the actress’s property is not disclosed in the documents. However, the athlete claims that this individual could allegedly continue attempting to take items belonging to Panettiere’s estate.

Klitschko also alleged that unauthorized individuals had gained access to the actress’s email account and deleted messages. He further claimed that some of Hayden’s personal belongings, including jewelry, were missing or had yet to be located. Some of the jewelry, according to the documents, is currently in the possession of law enforcement authorities.

Hayden Panettiere died on August 16 at a rental home in South Carolina. According to the death certificate, she died as a result of the toxic effects of multiple drugs, including fentanyl. Her former boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, was at the scene.

Panettiere and Klitschko dated on and off from 2009 to 2018. The couple welcomed their daughter, Kaya, in 2014. In 2018, the actress transferred custody of the girl to her father amid her struggles with postpartum depression and addiction.

Shortly before her death, however, Hayden spoke about her close relationship with her daughter and denied rumors that she had abandoned her.

Following Panettiere’s death, a source close to the actress told Page Six that she had been planning to spend the week of her birthday with her daughter in Germany and had been eagerly looking forward to their reunion.

Wladimir Klitschko first spoke publicly about his former fiancée’s death the day after the tragedy. In an emotional statement, he described Panettiere as an important part of his life and the mother of their daughter.

“Our family is going through a period of profound shock and grief. The news of Hayden’s tragic death has deeply saddened me. She left this life far too soon,” the athlete wrote.

Klitschko also promised his daughter that he would always speak of her mother with respect and preserve for her the memory of who Hayden was.
