Public fascination with where Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang eats has become so intense that there is even a dedicated blog tracking his lavish meals around the world.

But the real intrigue, Huang himself admitted during Nvidia’s second-quarter earnings call, is something else entirely: who he is having dinner with.

“One of the most amusing things is figuring out where I have dinner and who exactly I have dinner with,” Huang said during the quarterly call, after which Nvidia shares jumped more than 4% in after-hours trading. “The next day, their stock price doubles.”

Huang did not identify the restaurant, his dinner companion or the specific supplier he was referring to. But the Nvidia chief has long been known for his love of dining out while traveling around the world.

Photographers have repeatedly spotted him at restaurants and night markets, sampling local dishes, tipping waitstaff and posing for photos with crowds of admirers.

In 2024, Oracle founder Larry Ellison revealed that he and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk had invited Huang to dinner at Nobu in Palo Alto — and had literally “begged” him for more graphics processing units, or GPUs.

“I would describe that dinner as Oracle — Elon and me — begging Jensen to give us GPUs,” Ellison recalled. “Please take our money. Please take our money. By the way, I paid for dinner. No, no, take more. We need you to take more of our money.”

According to Ellison, the strategy worked.

Since then, Huang has been spotted dining at restaurants across Taipei, Hong Kong, Beijing and Seoul.

In June, the Jensen Eats blog reported that Huang visited a barbecue restaurant in South Korea whose name roughly translates as “Hey, bro, it’s me!” during a trip to the country.

Seated at the same table were SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo and Naver founder Lee Hae-jin.

According to Dan Liu, a tech startup founder and the author of the blog, the meal included grilled meat wrapped in perilla leaves, a traditional Korean dish.

Liu also noted that Koo Kwang-mo, the youngest member of the group at the table, took on the role of chef, grilling pork for the others.

And this is where things get particularly interesting.

Ahead of the meeting, LG shares jumped roughly 30% amid reports that Koo Kwang-mo was set to meet Huang. Shares of other publicly traded LG affiliates followed, gaining between 17% and 29%.

But the “Huang Effect” can extend even to the places where he eats.

Last October, Huang went out for fried chicken and beer with Samsung Electronics Executive Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Chung Euisun.

Following the outing, shares of poultry processor Cherrybro, fried-chicken maker Kyochon F&B Co. and Neuromeka Co., a robotics company that makes robots for preparing fried chicken, all rose, Bloomberg reported.

In other words, sometimes all it takes is one dinner with Jensen Huang for investors to decide that they may have just spotted their next big bet.
