A professor dubbed the “Chinese Nostradamus” has issued a series of grim predictions for 2027, culminating in widespread unrest in the United States that could spiral into a second civil war.

Jiang Xueqin, a Chinese-Canadian academic and political commentator, earned the nickname thanks to a series of geopolitical predictions that supporters claim later came true. Among them, they point to his alleged prediction of Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election, as well as his forecast that the United States and Israel would become embroiled in a conflict with Iran during Trump’s second term.

Now Jiang has outlined a troubling chain reaction of events that he believes will begin next year, driven by the war in Iran and escalating political tensions inside the United States.

“All the preconditions for a civil war [in the US] will already be there by then: nationwide discontent, riots, protests and uprisings. And by 2027, the global economy should collapse.”

In particular, he warned that the conflict with Iran could escalate into a full-scale war, eventually requiring a U.S. ground invasion and trapping America in a Middle Eastern conflict for years — possibly a decade or even two.

According to Jiang, the need for ground troops would force the U.S. government to reinstate compulsory military service, or the national draft, requiring young people from the age of 18 to serve in the armed forces.

Jiang predicted that this would lead to a dramatic expansion of the powers of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in major cities, followed by an economic collapse in the United States and, ultimately, mass protests and riots that could spiral into civil war.

How Does the ‘Chinese Nostradamus’ Make His Predictions?

Unlike psychics and fortune tellers, Jiang claims that he forecasts the future using three main tools, viewing nations and their leaders as players in a game of poker.

First, he analyzes what each player considers a “win” and then tries to predict their next move based on that objective.

He then compares current events with historical disasters that share similar characteristics. If an empire that once appeared confident became bogged down in a prolonged war, for example, he uses that pattern as a warning sign rather than as definitive proof of what will happen.

Finally, Jiang watches what the most radical groups already firmly believe. If religious or political movements believe in biblical prophecies about the end of the world, he assumes they will act as though that apocalypse is a genuine roadmap for their actions.

According to Jiang, Trump believes that God has given him a mission to save America. But winning the war in Iran is supposedly secondary — the real objective, Jiang argues, is to remain in power and secure a third presidential term in 2028.

“I think the U.S.-Iran war is only going to escalate. There is no way out. You’re going to see a ground invasion of Iran, and in that case America will get stuck there, probably for 10 or 20 years,” Jiang said.

“By 2027, you’ll already have the groundwork in place for a national draft. ICE will become far more powerful than people realize. They will want to deploy the National Guard into every major American city because they are preparing for an economic collapse.”

Threat of a Global Economic Collapse

Addressing the fourth part of his prediction — an economic collapse — Jiang said the trigger capable of bringing down the global financial system could be the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

He noted that cheap energy and rapid maritime shipping through the strategic waterway underpin the global economy.

Jiang said he had already seen elements of this scenario unfolding in 2026, when the closure of the strait during a U.S. bombing campaign triggered a sharp surge in the prices of oil, gas and fertilizer.

The resulting spike in costs created a damaging chain reaction that affected other commodities, including food. Jiang warned that another closure of the strait in 2027 could ultimately destabilize the world economy.

“If America loses this war, it will mean the collapse of the American economy,” he warned.

What Would a Second U.S. Civil War Look Like?

Discussing his final prediction — a second American civil war — Jiang clarified that he does not envision conventional battles between two regular armies being fought on U.S. soil.

Instead, he expects widespread unrest: protests, riots, small-scale clashes and localized uprisings, driven largely by the growing presence of ICE agents and the National Guard in major cities.

By 2030, Jiang predicts the escalation of a much broader confrontation between “globalists” and “nationalists,” playing out across both the United States and Europe.
