The Ambani family’s extraordinary wealth is hardly a secret — and over the years, their flair for extravagance has only become more spectacular. The latest dazzling display appeared on the wrist of Radhika Merchant, wife of Reliance heir Anant Ambani.

At the 40th-anniversary celebration of renowned designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, Merchant caused a sensation with an ultra-rare Patek Philippe Twenty~4 Haute Joaillerie “Foliage” from 2012, a jewel watch created for collectors who demand the ultimate in exclusivity. The model belongs to a highly exclusive series of just five unique artistic variations.

A Masterpiece of Haute Horlogerie and High Jewelry

The timepiece is crafted from 18-karat white gold in the form of a curved rectangular cuff, complete with a transparent sapphire-crystal caseback.

But the real spectacle lies not in its hand-wound Patek Philippe caliber 16-250, but in its extraordinary gem-setting:

• 864 baguette-cut diamonds and 855 additional diamonds — 1,719 diamonds in total;
• 54 marquise-cut emeralds and 241 additional emeralds.

The gemstones have a combined weight of approximately 40 carats. A geometric foundation of invisibly set diamonds intertwines with sweeping emerald foliage. Choosing the marquise cut for the leaves was a stroke of genius: their pointed silhouette perfectly mimics the shapes found in nature.

The artisans faced an enormous technical challenge, setting more than 2,000 precisely matched gemstones across the bracelet, case and dial — an exceptionally demanding task given the delicate nature of emeralds. The masterpiece of haute horlogerie and high jewelry is estimated to be worth nearly $500,000.

A Family Passion for Collector’s Watches

While Radhika’s husband, Anant Ambani, is known for his passion for ultra-complicated mechanical timepieces — he famously wore a one-of-a-kind Vacheron Constantin Grande Complication worth $4 million and featuring 16 complications at their wedding, while his collection also includes a pair of Sky Moon Tourbillon watches valued at $8.5 million each — Radhika has opted for something closer to pure jewelry madness.

The Unusual Accessory: A Silver Kellymorphose

Yet even the spectacular Patek Philippe was partly overshadowed by another work of wearable art showcased by Merchant: a four-inch Hermès Kellymorphose Sac Bijou sculpture made from 925 sterling silver in the form of a chainmail-like mesh weighing 440 grams. The accessory is valued at close to $100,000.

For comparison, Radhika’s mother-in-law, Nita Ambani, owns an even more jaw-dropping version — a Hermès Sac Bijou Birkin valued at $2 million. Only three examples of the ultra-rare bag are believed to exist worldwide.
