There are dream jobs, and then there is the job Snoop Dogg is offering: $10,000 a month to travel the world and eat ice cream.
And no, this is not a joke. The position is very real.
Dr. Bombay, the ice cream brand owned by Snoop Dogg, is looking for its first international ice cream taster. Candidates from virtually anywhere in the world can apply. For three months, the lucky winner will travel, search for the most unusual frozen desserts, explore food trends, create content and share their discoveries with Snoop Dogg and his team.
And the job has already become a viral sensation: according to the rapper, more than 200,000 people from 133 countries have applied.
The total compensation for the three-month assignment is $30,000 — or $10,000 a month. The winner will work as an independent contractor, while international HR and payments platform Deel will handle recruitment, onboarding and payments.
Snoop Dogg himself admitted that he did not expect such an overwhelming response.
“We always dreamed big, but we never imagined it would go THIS viral,” the rapper wrote.
It is hardly surprising that the internet immediately became fascinated by the unusual job posting. One user called it “the coolest job on LinkedIn,” while others praised the Dr. Bombay team’s brilliant marketing strategy.
“An absolute masterclass in marketing from Snoop and the Dr. Bombay team,” one commenter wrote.
Another user described it as “not just a job opening, but a genuine cultural event.”
The sheer number of applications has also raised one obvious question: how will the company process more than 200,000 applications?
Deel’s head of recruiting, Alan Price, said the company is prepared to handle the scale. According to him, its internal recruiting team consists of around 70 people and processes approximately 1.5 million applications every year, with more than 3,000 applicants ultimately becoming employees.
Deel allows the entire process to be managed in one place: candidates can be sourced through Deel Talent, while their work eligibility and tax requirements can be automatically checked regardless of where they live. Once hired, the platform handles contracts, taxes and payments.
The company also uses an AI-powered candidate screening system to filter and rank applications. Every applicant must record a video explaining why they are the right person for the job. But the applications are not reviewed by AI alone — a real employee must also watch each video.
From the hundreds of thousands of applicants, the company will select 50 finalists. The top 20 candidates will then have the opportunity to meet the Dr. Bombay team in person.
So, what exactly will the lucky winner have to do?
The international ice cream taster will be responsible for tracking the most unusual trends in the world of ice cream and desserts, sampling flavors and exploring the culinary traditions of different cities and cultures, as well as identifying emerging trends before they become mainstream.
The employee will also have to share their discoveries with the Dr. Bombay team, create social media content and help develop new flavors, advertising campaigns and unique experiences for customers.
The company is looking for someone who is genuinely passionate about food — especially ice cream and frozen desserts — has a strong sense of cultural and culinary trends, and can spot what is about to become popular.
Candidates must be willing to constantly try new flavors, know how to tell compelling stories and create content that makes users stop scrolling. An entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to see opportunities where others see just another trend are also considered a plus.
There are several mandatory requirements: candidates must be fluent in English, have a valid passport and be prepared to devote all three months to the assignment.
For Snoop Dogg, the idea behind the business is far from random. Ice cream holds a special place in his family history.
The rapper’s father grew up on a dairy farm in Mississippi, where ice cream was made by hand. That family tradition also remained part of Snoop’s own memories. He has recalled, for example, stopping for ice cream with his son, Cordell Broadus, after training sessions.
In 2023, father and son decided to turn that family history into a real business and launched the Dr. Bombay brand together.
