The grandson of notorious Mafia boss John Gotti married his fiancée just two days before reporting to federal prison — and his bride was a woman who had previously accused him of choking her during an argument over an alleged affair. His attorney confirmed the marriage to the New York Post.

Carmine Agnello, 40, reported to prison on August 10 to begin serving a 15-month sentence for fraud involving government funds distributed through a COVID-19 pandemic relief program. His attorney said he married Ariana Puran two days earlier.

The grandson of the notorious Gambino crime family boss had originally been scheduled to report to prison on June 2, but was granted a two-month delay after telling a judge that he intended to donate a kidney to his ailing mother, Victoria Gotti, known as the “Mafia princess.”

Agnello pleaded guilty to defrauding the U.S. Small Business Administration and several financial institutions involved in the COVID-19 relief loan program. According to court records, the fraud amounted to $943,300.

The kidney transplant, which federal prosecutors had reportedly offered to allow even while Agnello was incarcerated, ultimately never took place, according to reports.

Until recently, Agnello’s name had been linked to a very different scandal. On June 4, he was charged with assault after prosecutors alleged that he choked and struck Puran at his home in East Norwich during a jealous argument over an alleged affair.

However, Puran later told reporters that the incident had been nothing more than an “ordinary argument.” Victoria Gotti, meanwhile, lashed out at her future daughter-in-law after the arrest, calling her a “snitch” for contacting police.

Despite the dramatic history between them, Puran and Agnello went ahead with their wedding — just days before he was sent behind bars.

Agnello is the grandson of John Gotti, one of the most notorious bosses of the Gambino crime family.

Agnello previously appeared alongside his mother, Victoria Gotti, on the popular reality show Growing Up Gotti.
