Lionsgate has released the first official trailer for the upcoming thriller Day Drinker, directed by Marc Webb. The film stars Johnny Depp, Madelyn Cline and Penélope Cruz.

The story unfolds aboard a luxurious private yacht. Cline plays a bartender whose life takes an unexpected turn after she encounters a mysterious gray-haired guest, portrayed by Depp.

What begins as a chance encounter quickly turns into a dangerous affair involving a ruthless member of the criminal underworld, played by Penélope Cruz.

The dark trailer sets an unsettling tone and hints at secrets from Depp’s character’s past. His character even questions what his story really is — a tale of revenge, a supernatural ghost story or something far more sinister.

“My story? Maybe it’s a story of revenge. Or maybe it’s something much worse. What if it’s a ghost story? Or maybe I’m just another day drinker?” Depp’s character says mysteriously in the trailer.

The film also marks Depp and Cruz’s return to major studio filmmaking. In 2026, both actors were involved in independent projects, including La Bola Negra, The Invite and Bunker.

Day Drinker is produced by Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Adam Kolbrenner, Zach Dean and Nathan Kahane.

The thriller is scheduled to hit theaters on March 26, 2027.
