Twenty-one-year-old Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt has officially dropped her father’s surname, actor Brad Pitt. On Monday, the Los Angeles Superior Court approved her petition, and she is now legally known as Zahara Marley Jolie.

According to court documents reviewed by the Daily Mail, the decision was made by Judge Virginia Keeny.

Zahara has thus become the third child of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt to officially remove their father’s surname from their name. Their daughter Shiloh did so in 2024, while their eldest son Maddox followed suit in September 2026.

A source close to Pitt told the Daily Mail that his daughter’s decision was painful for the actor.

“It’s upsetting, but it’s just the latest example of an incredibly effective campaign of parental alienation. It’s sad, and in a situation like this, nobody wins,” the source said.

However, a source close to Angelina Jolie offered a different account of the situation to Page Six. According to the source, the court hearing was a required legal procedure and had been scheduled by the Los Angeles court several months earlier.

Addressing Pitt’s reaction, the source said: “The new low is when his camp tries to present conspiracy theories, absolve him of responsibility for his own behavior and attack his own child.”

“It’s worth remembering that his daughter showed enough grace not to publicly discuss details of his behavior,” the source added.

Pitt and Jolie separated in September 2016 and officially finalized their divorce in December 2024. The former couple have six children: Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax, Knox and Vivienne.
