Meta’s new virtual assistant has unexpectedly found itself in the spotlight, not because of its technological capabilities, but because of its rather risqué image. Social media users have seemingly lost their minds over an AI character named Jolly, introduced by the company as the mascot of its new Muse assistant. And after Alexandr Wang, head of Meta Superintelligence Labs, posted a series of provocative memes featuring the virtual character, the internet was flooded with jokes and openly enthusiastic comments, The Post reports.

Muse is Meta’s new AI assistant, designed to perform everyday tasks on a user’s behalf, from sending emails to planning trips and much more. To make interacting with the technology feel more human and less impersonal, the company decided to give the assistant an adorable mascot resembling something between a Labubu toy and a squishy stress-relief dumpling.

Jolly was envisioned as a high-tech version of a Tamagotchi — a cute virtual secretary that users could carry around with them through the new Muse Charm device. However, users quickly noticed another feature of the character: online, Jolly began appearing with an exaggeratedly curvy figure, transforming the adorable assistant into an unexpected star of provocative memes.

One of the people behind this transformation was none other than Alexandr Wang himself. The head of Meta Superintelligence Labs shared several AI-generated images depicting Jolly in an overtly sexualized way. In one meme, the character coyly looks over her shoulder, showing off her virtual curves; in another, she is pictured in bed with two men. The latter image parodies the famous three-way kissing scene from Challengers, starring Zendaya, Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist.

Wang also superimposed Jolly’s image onto a frame associated with controversial messages sent by singer Adam Levine, in which he gushed over a woman’s appearance. As a result, the cute digital character became the subject of memes with decidedly suggestive undertones.

“Some of you are way too thirsty for Muse,” Wang wrote on X, commenting on the buzz surrounding the new mascot. Yet his own posts were largely responsible for fueling interest in Jolly’s sexualized image.

Users were quick to react. “Muse is a thirst trap,” one commenter joked. Another predicted that the virtual assistant would soon have her own OnlyFans account. One more user admitted that they now logged on to X every day solely to see new posts featuring the “thicc Muse.”

“I just can’t wait to get my hands on her,” one fan of the virtual character wrote.

Some users went even further, creating their own risqué memes featuring Jolly. These included a parody of a well-known internet meme in which a man stares appreciatively at a woman walking past, while his companion shoots him a furious look.

As the New York Post notes, the unexpected popularity of the sexualized mascot may be an unintended side effect of Meta’s efforts to make artificial intelligence more appealing to a broad audience. And judging by the reaction on social media, the adorable virtual assistant has certainly managed to capture users’ attention — just not quite in the way its creators originally intended.

Meanwhile, Meta has introduced a feature that allows users to customize the appearance of the Muse mascot and even change its voice. Following the viral wave of memes, it is possible that some owners of the new assistant will want to make its image even more alluring.

It seems that in the age of artificial intelligence, being cute is no longer enough for a digital secretary. Now, it also has to compete for users’ attention in a decidedly unexpected arena.
