Viral ‘Husband Application’ Sends Social Media Into a Frenzy as 36-Year-Old American Gets 241 Suitor Submissions

16:14, October 1

Most people turn to dating apps in search of love. Arin Patterson decided to take things a step further — and opened a job posting, the New York Post reports.

The 36-year-old American created a detailed application form for potential husbands. Her unusual approach quickly went viral on social media, leaving users amused, intrigued and more than a little baffled.

At the end of August, Patterson pinned a three-page Google Form to her Instagram bio and announced that she was looking for love on social media. Within a month, she had received 241 completed applications and between 1,000 and 1,500 direct messages.

“I’m open to meeting a handsome, intelligent, kind, loyal and generous man who enjoys coffee dates, dinners, good conversation and seeing where things might lead,” Patterson wrote in the questionnaire.

Arin says her desire to find love was strongly influenced by her parents, who have been married for 44 years.

“I’ve always been open to being set up with someone… I literally did everything I knew and could do, and that’s ultimately how I ended up creating a husband application,” she explained.

With a sense of humor, Patterson titled her virtual questionnaire, “So… You’re Interested?” At the beginning, she introduces herself to potential suitors, describing herself as “a people person” who is optimistic, cheerful, a little goofy, kind and genuine.

Then comes the really interesting part: a list of her “minimum requirements” for a future husband.

Candidates must be between 28 and 47 years old, Christian, single and genuinely ready to pursue a relationship. Ultimately, they must be looking to become both a husband and a father.

Among the desired qualities is a bachelor’s degree or higher level of education. There is also a height requirement: applicants must be at least 5 feet 10 inches tall — about 178 centimeters.

Potential suitors are asked to share their relationship status, expectations for a relationship and what they are looking for in a partner. The questionnaire also includes a more unexpected question: applicants are asked to name a subject they could talk about “for an inappropriate amount of time.”

For those interested in filling the unofficial position of her “holiday boyfriend,” Patterson encourages applicants to be as thorough as possible. She makes one thing clear, however: the ultimate goal is not simply a relationship, but marriage.

Her unconventional approach to finding love has predictably sparked a lively reaction online. Some users have praised Arin for taking matters into her own hands, while others can hardly believe that she has effectively organized an official casting call for a husband.

Patterson is well aware that some people may describe her as desperate. But she does not believe that wanting to get married is the same thing as being desperate.

Now comes the hardest part: going through hundreds of applications, selecting promising candidates, conducting interviews and then going on dates with the men who make the cut.
