Irish actor Andrew Scott has earned rave reviews for two of the year's most high-profile films and could make Oscar history by receiving two Best Actor nominations in the same year — one for each performance.

The 49-year-old star is considered a leading contender for a Best Actor nomination for Elsinore, which has yet to be released. Critics have also praised his performance in the World War II drama Pressure.

Under a rule change for the 2027 Academy Awards, actors will be allowed to receive multiple nominations in the same category for different performances in the same year. The change, introduced for the first time since 1930, could give Scott two separate chances to win the Best Actor Oscar.
