Monica Lewinsky, who found herself at the center of one of the biggest political scandals of the 1990s over her relationship with then-President Bill Clinton, is preparing a new book. According to Page Six, the project is already being pitched to publishers through talent agency WME.
The upcoming publication is reportedly generating considerable buzz in the publishing industry. A source close to the 53-year-old Lewinsky confirmed that the book is currently being shopped to publishers but declined to reveal further details.
Another insider suggested that Lewinsky may revisit both the scandal that engulfed her youth and the years that followed, when she became an anti-bullying advocate and podcast host.
Lewinsky rose to international prominence in 1998, when her sexual relationship with Clinton became public. She was just 22 at the time and was working as an intern at the White House.
In the years following the scandal, Lewinsky remained the target of public ridicule and condemnation. She later dedicated herself to combating bullying and online harassment, while also speaking openly about her experience of living under intense public scrutiny.
Lewinsky has yet to publish an autobiography. In 1999, she collaborated with Andrew Morton, the biographer of Princess Diana, on Monica’s Story. She also contributed to Ryan Murphy’s 2021 television series Impeachment: American Crime Story, which explored the Clinton scandal.
In 2014, Lewinsky published an essay titled Shame and Survival in Vanity Fair.
In recent years, she has continued to share her personal experiences on her podcast, Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky, which launched last year. Her guests have included Lizzo, Miley Cyrus, Sarah Paulson, John Oliver and other well-known figures.
In a recent episode, Lewinsky spoke about the importance of accepting one’s past in order to move forward. She said she had to learn not to erase the young woman she was during her time at the White House from her life, but instead to embrace that experience as part of who she is.
It remains unclear when the book will be released or what details Lewinsky will choose to reveal. However, if the sources’ predictions prove accurate, the publication could cover both the events that made her one of America’s most talked-about women and her long journey toward reexamining her own story.
