Robert Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult Join the Race to Become the Next James Bond

17:33, November 7

Two more A-list actors have entered the race to play the next James Bond: Robert Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult. According to Variety, both British stars have screen-tested for the role of the legendary 007.

Both actors have extensive experience in major film franchises, as well as the acting credentials to take on the iconic spy. Pattinson is best known for playing Batman in the DC universe, as well as starring in the Twilight saga and the Harry Potter films. Hoult, meanwhile, portrayed Lex Luthor in the Superman movies and played one of the leading roles in the X-Men prequel trilogy.

Pattinson also has another advantage: he appears in the upcoming third installment of Dune, directed by Denis Villeneuve, who has been tapped by Amazon MGM Studios to helm the next Bond film. The screenplay for the 26th installment in the franchise is being written by Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders.

Meanwhile, British and American media have been speculating about potential candidates for the iconic role for several years. Among the leading contenders are Callum Turner, Josh O’Connor and Jack Lowden. According to Variety, Harry Styles has also held talks with the filmmakers about the role. The possibility of 41-year-old Theo James taking on the part has not been ruled out either.

Former Bond stars have also revealed their favorites. Pierce Brosnan, who played 007 in the 1990s, has backed Callum Turner, while Gary Oldman has voiced his support for Jack Lowden, his co-star in the series Slow Horses.
