The Promise screened at Vatican

13:02, April 5

The Promise, a movie about Armenian Genocide, has been screened at the Vatican.

Director Terry George, producer Eric Esrailian were present at the screening on Tuesday, the Variety  reported.

The Variety authors note that the Vatican screening comes after Pope Francis made his first visit to Armenia during which he used the term “genocide”.

“When he [Pope Francis] mentioned the word ‘genocide’ once in the big Mass, you could hear a kind of collective gasp and people getting tearful because he spoke really as a world leader,” Esrailian recalled.

The movie will go on release in U.S. on April 21.
