President Donald Trump told Kim Kardashian during Oval Office meeting that she and Kanye are helping him connect with black voters
He thanked the reality star and her husband Kayne West for boosting his popularity with African-Americans, a group that is not a strong supporter of his presidency.
Two sources familiar with the conversation recounted it to Bloomberg News.
Trump received only 8 percent of African-American vote in 2016, compared to the 88 percent who supported Hillary Clinton.
Kardashian met with Trump and White House adviser Jared Kushner in separate meetings for an hour at the White House on May 30 to make her case for a presidential pardon for Alice Marie Johnson, a 63-year-old grandmother serving a life sentence without parole for a drug offense.
