The great Italian film director and playwright Bernardo Bertolucci died in Rome on Monday at the age of 77, The Guardian reported.
Il Conformista, 1970 and Ultimo tango a Parigi, 1972, The Last Emperor, 1987, Little Buddha, 1993, Stealing Beauty, 1996 and The Dreamers, 2003 - it’s just impossible to imagine world cinema without these movies.
The Italian director was awarded Oscar in 1987, Golden Globe, 1988, BAFTA in 1989, Berlin International Film Festival in 1970, Venice Film Festival both in 1997 and in 2007.
In 2011, Bertolucci was awarded an honorary Palme d'Or for his life's work at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. Bertolucci celebrated his Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on November 19, 2013 in Hollywood, California. Acclaimed Italian filmmaker Bernardo Bertolucci has been awarded the Peace Summit Award 2014.
