Vanessa Bryant slams Evan Rachel Wood for calling Kobe a ‘rapist’

15:39, March 2

A year after the death of Kobe Bryant, Vanessa Bryant, caught the eye of a tweet from Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood, who once made a splash on social networks calling Kobe a 'rapist.'

A staunch feminist Wood, who recently accused her ex-fiance Marilyn Manson of abusing her, recalled that Bryant was arrested in 2003 on charges of raping a 19-year-old hotel maid in Colorado, where he was recovering from a knee injury.

According to Kobe, there was indeed a sexual relationship between them, but by mutual consent. In 2004, the charges were dropped because the victim told the court that she would not testify against the basketball player.

Hours after Kobe’s death on Jan. 26, 2020, the actress tweeted, “What has happened is tragic. I am heartbroken for Kobe’s family. He was a sports hero. He was also a rapist. And all of these truths can exist simultaneously.”

Vanessa noted that she noticed the tweet just a few days ago.

“Your false, insensitive, defamatory and slanderous tweet on 1/26/20 is vile and disturbing to say the least,” the NBA player’s widow wrote over a screenshot of the original tweet. “Behavior like this is part of the reason why innocent black men go to jail for crimes they didn’t commit. An accusation doesn’t make someone guilty.”
