Neflix will film a series based on Gabriel Garcia Marquez's cult novel "One Hundred Years of Solitude." The streaming giant announced this on its YouTube page.
The service presented a video showing the setting for the city of Macondo. It was there in the book that the main events unfolded.
Filming will take place in Colombia. Rodrigo Garcia and Gonzalo Garcia Barcha, the writer's sons, are involved in the work on the series, UPI specifies.
A premiere date has not yet been announced.
Marquez's novel was published in 1967. It was written in the genre of magical realism - the mystical in such works are woven into a realistic picture of the world.
The book talks about several generations of the Buendía family. Among them was Jose Arcadio. He founded Macondo.
