Hugh Jackman tells why he turned down role of James Bond

12:03, November 28

The performer as Wolverine in the "X-Men" films Hugh Jackman has admitted that he turned out from the role of James Bond, despite insistent offers from the producers of the franchise. According to the Australian actor, he just didn't want to repeat himself.

"The role of the hero action star. It was the meat-and-potatoes of a lot of American films, that archetype. It was all various forms of heroic guys in tough situations. I was like, ‘Uh, no. This is a problem."

Hugh Jackman revealed that the team at EON Productions, which owns all the rights to James Bond, contacted him about the role after Pierce Brosnan left, presumably before filming an episode of "Casino Royale." "I was like, ‘If I’m doing that and Wolverine, I’ll have no time to do anything else.’ I clearly find it more interesting to play people who colour outside the lines," he added.

Hugh Jackman will once again become Wolverine in the Marvel Comics adaptation of "Deadpool 3". The actor has already begun intensive training to get back in shape.
