Rapper Kanye West has been stripped of the honorary doctorate awarded to him by the Art Institute of Chicago in 2015, NME writes.

The school's president, Elissa Tenny, announced that West's degree was revoked because the administration found anti-Semitic and inflammatory remarks about Jews and blacks to be disgusting and reprehensible. He noted that the musician was once awarded the degree for his creative achievements, but over the past seven years since then, his disturbing behavior and dangerous statements have created an image that does not correspond to public values.

The revocation of West's degree came after a group of students filed a petition. More than 4,000 signatures were collected.
