Meghan Markle to receive award for fighting gender, racial injustice

10:28, April 5

Meghan Markle is set to receive the 2023 Women of Vision award from famed feminist Gloria Steinem next month, Page Six reported.

The Duchess of Sussex’s “global advocacy to empower and advocate on behalf of women and girls” has earned her the flashy new gong at the May 16 ceremony in NYC.

The award—bestowed by the Ms. Foundation, a Brooklyn-based organization that “works to bring attention to the real challenges facing women, especially women of color and low-income women who are living in poverty”—notes that Markle is a “feminist, champion of human rights and gender equity and global role model.”

Steinem, a “founding mother” of the Ms. Foundation, is set to present the duchess with the award at the flashy gala.

Markle and Steinem, who both reside in Montecito, California, built their unlikely friendship during quarantine in 2020.

Markle is set to accept the award only ten days after King Charles’ coronation, which takes place on May 6.

The Sussexes have not yet made it clear if they will make the 5,459-mile-long trip from their Montecito, Calif. home to London.
