American comedian Kevin Hart has been awarded the Kennedy Center's Mark Twain Prize. Fellow comedians Dave Chappelle, Chelsea Handler, and Jerry Seinfeld performed during the ceremony, paying tribute to Hart's career. They noted his mixture of humor, profanity, and emotion, Reuters reports.
“You remind me ... why I love comedy so much,” said Chappelle, a previous winner of the award, quipping that he turned down a trip to Jamaica to attend.
Hart, 44, became the 25th recipient of the award, which the Kennedy Center has previously presented to Adam Sandler, Whoopi Goldberg, Jon Stewart, and Carol Burnett. Hart called the award amazing and thanked his colleagues.
Known for films such as The Ride, Central Intelligence and Parenthood, Hart has achieved success as a comedian, film and television actor, producer, and businessman. In 2022, he founded the media company HARTBEAT.
