Tom Cruise broke up with Russian socialite Elsina Khayrova to avoid problems with her ex-oligarch husband.

Following the news that Cruise and Elsina were dating, her ex-husband Dmitry Tsvetkov gave a lengthy interview to The Daily Mail, in which he spoke in detail about their marriage, and warned Cruise to "keep his eyes and wallet wide open."

The article worried the actor's team. "He's filming and can't do it without her husband saying something every time," a source told Page Six. "They just didn't want to deal with an ex-husband who said something nasty every few weeks."

Tsvetkov, who reportedly prefers the term "tycoon" to oligarch, also somewhat unusually constantly endorsed Cruise during the interview, calling him his "favorite actor," stating that he has watched the movie Eyes Wide Shut a whopping 30 times, and adding that he was talking to his friend, a Hollywood producer, about having Cruise play him in a movie about his life. “I told the producer that the only actor who could play me is Tom Cruise,” Tsvetkov joked in an interview with the UK publication. “We are about the same height and weight, and I would be honored if this happened. I hope one day I will be able to meet with him to discuss this project."

The Sun reported that Cruise and Khayrova split at the end of February, with a source telling the publication that "there are no hard feelings between them, and for Tom their relationship has simply run its course." Tsvetkov, who has UK citizenship, claims to have survived the assassination attempt.

In The Daily Mail article, he revealed also that he spent more than $12 million on clothes and an estimated $2.5 million on bags for his ex during their 11-year marriage. Tsvetkov added that he lost nearly $200 million in the divorce settlement.  Their divorce made international headlines as millions of dollars were involved, including a mansion in Surrey, England, five London apartments, a Bentley and a Ferrari, as well as Cartier jewelry, and artwork by Renoir and Chagall.
