Action Comics No. 1 went under the hammer for a record $6 million. Thus, this 1938 comic book became the most valuable comic book in the world. It even surpassed 1939's Superman No 1, which had sold for a cool $5.3 million in 2022.
Of the original 200,000 copies printed, only 100 copies of Action Comics No. 1 remain.
The $6 million copy is reported to be in pristine condition, with a small tear at the top of the spine, a small crease in the upper left corner of the back cover, and a tear with a crease at the top of the front cover. Considering this comic book is 85 years old, it has held up surprisingly well.
By the way, ten years ago this comic also set a record; it was sold for $3.2 million. Even then, it was the most expensive comic book ever.
And history repeats itself ten years later. The comic book, which amazed the world with a sale of $3.2 million, doubled in price to an insane $6 million.
