Jacob & Co. proves once again that watches can be more than just instruments of time—they can be miniature stages of art. In 2025, the brand revisits its legendary dragon motif with the Astronomia Solar Dragon, where the mythical creature comes to life amid a complex mechanical spectacle.

The watch case is crafted from 18k rose gold or titanium with a DLC coating, measuring 44mm in diameter and 21mm thick. Its double-domed sapphire crystal and sapphire case flange showcase the movement and dragon from any angle, transforming the timepiece into an endlessly captivating object.

At the heart of the composition is the dragon itself, sculpted from three solid pieces of rose gold. Every scale, claw, and curve is meticulously hand-finished, with the final painting of the sculpture taking three weeks of master craftsmanship. The figure hovers just 0.5mm above the hands, creating a striking tension between artistry and engineering.

The JCAM42 manual-winding movement contains 296 components, many crafted from lightweight titanium. Unlike previous Astronomia models, the movement remains static to emphasize the dragon scene. Three radial arms support a rotating minute tourbillon, a skeletonized off-center time display, and a magnesium Earth globe completing a full rotation every minute. Towering above it all is a Jacob-cut gemstone with 288 facets, serving as a visual anchor: yellow in the rose gold version, and red—or a unique color chosen for each titanium edition.

Straps are made from alligator leather with matching case-colored buckles. Production is extremely limited: 36 titanium pieces priced at $420,000, and only 4 rose gold examples available upon request.

The Astronomia Solar Dragon is more than a watch—it is a theatrical dragon spectacle realized through mechanical artistry, showcasing Jacob & Co.’s signature philosophy: uncompromising luxury and fantasy made tangible.
