Balenciaga is returning to the world of fragrance with the launch of 10 exclusive perfumes and a dedicated boutique to showcase them. This marks the fashion house’s first major venture into perfumery since Kering restored Balenciaga’s control over its fragrance business in 2023, reports WWD.
“From the very beginning, Balenciaga has been not only a couture house but also a house of perfumery. Together with Kering Beauté, we aimed to revive and honor this important part of our heritage,” said Gianfranco Gianandjeli, CEO of Balenciaga.
A nod to history
The collection draws inspiration from the historic Le Dix, first created in 1947. Balenciaga archivists spent nearly 15 years tracking down the original bottle to restore and adapt the formula for a modern release. Every detail—from the bottle’s shape to the patinated packaging in Balenciaga’s signature grey palette—reflects a dialogue between heritage and contemporary design.
The new collection features a diverse range of notes:
Le Dix blends iris absolute with frankincense oil
Cristóbal highlights oud essence and patchouli
Muscara combines ambrette seed absolute with an iris accord
A new home for fragrance
The Balenciaga Fragrance Store is located at 10 Avenue George V, the historic address where the couture salon was previously restored. Its interior mirrors the house’s architectural language: a modern, minimalist mix of grey tones, concrete, metal, velvet, leather, and suede, creating a premium sensory experience.
In addition to standard Eau de Parfum bottles, the collection offers travel sizes, miniature sets, and refillable options packaged in recyclable cardboard. The perfume alcohol is made from organic wheat, with no single-use plastics used anywhere in the packaging.
“The fusion of tradition, craftsmanship, and innovation allows this collection to become a living part of Balenciaga’s creative DNA,” added Raffaella Cornaggia, CEO of Kering Beauté.
