Think money makes people wiser? Think again. Millionaires and billionaires on social media have proven that wealth doesn’t always come with common sense—especially when doling out life, money, and parenting advice.
RichTok influencer Becca Bloom, hailed as the platform’s “queen” thanks to her $500,000 shopping sprees and glamorous lifestyle, recently found herself at the center of an internet firestorm. She shared her thoughts on financial equality between men and women in relationships, prompting widespread backlash.
“Here’s what men don’t understand about equality: you think it’s just splitting the bill,” Bloom told her 6.2 million followers. “Women live in a society where equality has never existed. Women still earn about 20% less than men for the same job. So when you suggest a 50/50 split, know that her 50% costs more than it does for you.”
Bloom, a San Francisco native, married engineer David Pownall in September in a lavish $4 million wedding at Lake Como. In her “lecture,” she also noted that her husband “pays all the bills,” which she considers “the bare minimum.” She added that women spend roughly $400 a month on beauty treatments to meet societal standards and are more likely to face violence on dates than men.
Internet critics, however, were more focused on her wealth than her arguments. “I don’t want this billionaire lecturing me about equality,” wrote one commenter. “Right message, wrong messenger,” added another.
Bloom, however, is just the tip of the iceberg. Other wealthy women on RichTok are also sharing “valuable” life tips that leave everyday viewers baffled:
• Bayleigh Dayton, self-proclaimed luxury lifestyle guru, admitted to hiring three nannies for her two children. Fans responded: “That’s not parenting; that’s delegating your job to others.”
• COHouswife, an influencer married to a wealthy man, advises always staying presentable at home, even wearing shoes indoors. Commenters noted: “Wealth ≠ constant presentation. Many rich people don’t do this.”
• Brianna Owen, wife of comedian Gary Owen, shared her “life hack”: flying private with her child to avoid tantrums. Users reacted sarcastically: “Not all of us were born with billionaire husbands.”
• Aerely Chacon prefers riding in the backseat with a personal chauffeur rather than driving or being a passenger herself. Commenters called it spoiled behavior.
• Nia Chi jokingly said she gets her husband’s attention through lavish gifts rather than personal time: “Ideally, I’d have him never work and we’d live in a cardboard box—but gifts will do too.”
These glimpses into RichTok’s elite lifestyle have sparked heated debates about privilege, fairness, and the disconnect between wealth and everyday reality.
